Depression among older adults is not an inevitable consequence of aging but rather a psychiatric condition influenced by complex biological, environmental, and psychosocial factors. By targeting the root causes and the underlying chemistry affecting brain and behavior, we can promote more effective healing and recovery for some of our most vulnerable patients.
